Sophos Email Security Now Incorporated into Cloud Management Platform

The Sophos Central cloud-based management platform can be used to manage Sophos endpoint, mobile and wireless security products. Now Sophos has added its email security offering – Sophos Email – to the cloud management platform, allowing its customers manage all solutions through a single-pane-of-glass. The addition of Sophos Email to the platform makes the management of the solution much more straightforward for customers who have chosen multiple Sophos security products. MSPs can now use the cloud platform to manage all of their clients’ Sophos deployments, making deployment and management easier and faster.

More and more businesses are now transitioning to cloud-based email solutions such as Office 365. Sophos reports that 38% of companies are now using a cloud-based email platform as their primary email service and 43% of firms are using a cloud-based email security solution.

While there are many benefits to switching to the cloud, one of the main drawbacks is security. 50% of users of Office 365 say that a third-party email security solution is essential to extend Office 365 security. Malicious emails containing malware and ransomware often make it past the protection mechanisms implemented by these cloud email providers. The cloud-based email providers cannot maintain pace with cybercriminals and keep up with today’s dynamic threat landscape.

Sophos has responded to demand for additional anti-spam controls for cloud-based email, with its solution able to provide an additional level of spam and malware protection for Office 365, Microsoft Exchange 2013, and Google Apps for Work.

The cloud-based Sophos Email solution incorporates several technologies to provide enhanced protection against current and emerging email threats. The Sophos threat protection engine is complimented by SophosLabs’ aggressive context-specific heuristics (CXMail), which is designed to block ransomware threats that are predominantly delivered via email.
