The Lexington, MA-based email security company Mimecast has been named a Gartner Peer Insights Customers’ Choice for Email Security for 2019.
Gartner Peer Insights is a review platform for IT products and services where users of software and services can submit reviews of their experiences with the solutions. The platform includes more than 215,000 verified customer reviews in 340 markets. When sufficient numbers of reviews are received in a specific category, Gartner recognizes companies through its Customers’ Choice list. The list details the companies that have been rated the highest in their respective categories.
The reviews come from IT professionals and technology decision makers who have firsthand experience of purchasing, implementing, and using the solutions. The reviews were submitted by companies of a broad range of sizes, with revenues of less than $50 million to more than $30 billion. Mimecast received many 5-star reviews from companies in all major verticals including healthcare, finance, and manufacturing.
Mimecast has amassed more than 35,000 customers and provides email security, web security, end user training, and threat detection solutions, which “stop bad things happening to good organizations.”

Mimecast Secure Email Gateway was one of five products recognized in the 2019 Gartner Peer Insights Customers’ Choice for Email Security list that was published in September 2019. Other solutions that achieved sufficient numbers of positive reviews to be considered were Avanan, Barracuda Email Security Gateway/Barracuda Essentials, FortiMail from Fortinet, Proofpoint Email Protection Suite/Proofpoint Essentials, and Symantec Messaging Gateway/Symantec Email Security Cloud.
