Wombat Security Honored at SC Media Awards

Wombat Security, now a division of Proofpoint, helps businesses train employees to become more security aware and recognize potential phishing emails and other email-based cyber threats. The company has developed an extensive training library and CBT platform that businesses can use as the basis of their security awareness programs, along with a phishing simulation program to put the training to the test.

The firm was recently honored at this year’s SC Media Awards, being named winner of a Professional Award in the Best IT Security-Related Training Program category.

Each year, hundreds of products are considered for the awards with the pool narrowed down to a handful of finalists. A panel of independent judges reads testimonials, product research, and industry assessments to select the winner in each category.

The SC Media Awards are highly regarded within the IT security industry. To be honored with an award confirms an organization’s products are among the best on the market and help businesses protect their employees and networks from a wide range of cyber threats.

This year saw five companies named as finalists in the Best IT Security-Related Training Program category – PhishMe (Now Cofense), Knowbe4, Idaho National Laboratory, Circadence Corporation, and Wombat Security, with the Proofpoint division chosen as the best of all finalists.  The awards were announced and presented at the 22nd SC Awards gala event in San Francisco on April 17, 2018.

There were many companies considered for awards that offer IT security solutions that help to protect against phishing and other email-based attacks. While those technological solutions can prevent malicious emails from being delivered to inboxes, no single solution is 100% effective at blocking all phishing emails. It is therefore essential for businesses to provide training to the workforce to make sure that any malicious email that makes it past the perimeter is identified as a threat.

“One of the most important keys to fighting these threats is the ongoing training and education that winners of the Professional Award category of the SC Media Awards pride themselves on. Wombat Security is helping set a new standard of excellence in the IT security industry,” said Illena Armstrong, VP, editorial, SC Media.

“Our customers’ results have shown the effectiveness of combining assessments and education as part of a continuous cybersecurity training program, and we will continue to help organizations empower their end users to become an integral component of a defense-in-depth strategy.” said Joe Ferrara, General Manager of Wombat Security.
