Group Message Confirmations Added to TigerText iOS Secure Texting App

TigerText has announced a host of improvements have been made to its iOS secure texting mobile app, which will be showed off at this year’s HIMSS event in Chicago next week. In addition to showcasing the new functions of its iOS secure texting app, attendees will be able to find out more about the benefits of secure texting in a healthcare setting.

On Monday, April 13th at 3:15pm, a session will be conducted on the benefits of secure texting, showing how the app can improve productivity, efficiency and drive down costs, as well as reduce readmission rates. TigerText adopter, Scottsdale Health Partners, will be used as a case study to show how the new iOS secure texting app can be used in practice.

New iOS Secure Texting App Functionality

SMS text messages are a fast, convenient and easy way of communicating. In a healthcare setting, the benefits are numerous. Physicians, nurses and other care team members are able to communicate quickly, rapid answers can be found, and archaic hospital communication systems can finally be retired.

TigerText’s secure messaging App already offered healthcare professionals a means of communicating quickly; but additional functionality has now been added to its secure SMS service, allowing test results and medical images to be attached to messages quickly, easily, and most important of all, securely.

Medical images stored in the cloud can be quickly added to a HIPAA-compliant text message via Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, or ICloud, and it now just takes a few seconds, and requires just a couple of taps of the screen.

Data such as photographs, PDF files, spreadsheets, presentations, and Word documents are now easier to attach to messages sent through the TigerText app. Previously it was necessary to come out of an app, then open the secure texting app, then attach the data. Now, this process has been streamlined and it is no longer necessary to quit the current app. A file can be selected on the phone, the user then only needs to click share, and the TigerText iOS secure texting app will appear in the drop-down menu.

Further Protections to Avoid HIPAA Violations

Data must only be sent using a secure channel if a HIPAA violation is to be avoided. While the installation of a secure messaging mobile phone apps can prevent HIPAA violations, it does not eliminate the risk entirely. It is, for instance, still possible for a physician to make a mistake and send an incorrect file.

To reduce the risk of this happening, TigerText has added a new message preview feature. A file can be attached to a message, with the preview function allowing the information to be easily checked prior to the message being sent. Text can even be added to the message while it is being previewed.

This may be one of the “minor” new updates for the iOS secure texting app, but it is certainly one of the most useful, helping to eliminate email errors. Sending an incorrect photo or file is now a thing of the past.

Group Message Confirmations Added in the Latest TigerText Update

After receiving highly positive feedback from clients about the sent and read receipts on individual conversations, TigerText expanded that functionality to include group text messages. TigerText is the first secure messaging app to offer this functionality.

The new feature mans that even text messages sent to multiple individuals can be tracked, with the sender alerted in real time when the message is delivered and read by each individual who was sent the message.
